I was assigned to comment on John Spencer's blog. His post talked about "Race and Reform." After reading his post it made me realize that sometimes we don't give student's a chance to prove themselves. He was pointing our that we tend to stereotype but we need to think about it again, because people might come from poor communities but that does not mean that they are not supported by their families. This also doesn't mean that they can't learn how to fix a car, cook or even read a book. We should not underestimate poverty.
John also said something very true about reform- it cannot ignore the issues of ethnicity, social injustice and race. It cannot ignore the reality of life however "Reform has to begin with listening. It has to start with a conversation.".
